Ghouls, Ghosts and Goblins – Halloween Soaps
Posted by Karen in Laboratory on September 8, 2009
For about a month, I’ve been dying to offer these four new creations to you for Halloween… please excuse the bad pun. These are four of the most creative soaps and gorgeous scent blends I have ever created… I am so proud of them!
I formulated them with an interesting array of fruit/vegetable oils and other skin loving ingredients. And, because it is Halloween, I was determined to make them visually spectacular as well. I hope you all enjoy them!
Phantasm
Lose yourself in a labyrinth of sweet black licorice whips with this ethereal creation. A unique and mouth-watering blend of star anise, sweet fennel, and tarragon leaf essential oils.
Goblin
Spoil yourself with rich citrus and precious woods to inspire mischievous adventures. A haunting potion of mysterious sandalwood polished with enchanting, sweet green mandarin.
Bad Wolf
A basket of freshly-picked berries and sweet cream fused with a shady forest brew of bergamot, apple wood, vanilla bourbon, and tonka bean to round out the darker, more sensuous patchouli, cedarwood, and oakmoss with a whisper of cardamom and allspice.
All the better to eat you with, my dear…
ZomBee
The sweet, earthy emanation of this hallowed creation is sure to resurrect your deepest passions! A thrilling concoction of dark patchouli, crushed clove, sickly-sweet honey, beeswax and darkened vanilla pods.
The Fragrance of Fall – Autumn Soaps
Posted by Karen in Laboratory on September 7, 2009
It was my goal to capture autumn in the three soaps I’ve created. Burning leaves, pumpkin patches and sweet hayfields carried on crisp, cool breezes. Cozy kitchens filled with the scent of freshly baked goodies and farmer’s markets bursting with autumn’s bounty. Ah, the scents of autumn… truly my favorite time of year.
A little pampering is in order as well… the summer sun and heat are brutal on your skin. So, for Autumn, I included vitamin and mineral-rich ingredients to replenish the nutrients lost throughout the sweltering hot months.

Black Walnut
This breathtaking blend captures the sweet-smelling, musky bouquet of a New England autumn. Light notes of warm citrus rests atop a heart of roasted walnuts, brown sugar, and hazelnut java, fused with black anise seed, earthy patchouli, and Madagascar vanilla, and winds down to a rich musk base.
Sweet Pumpkin
Reminiscent of the warm, fragrant aroma of a sweet autumn bounty. This tantalizing scent is a warm, delicious recipe of sweet cream, molasses, and fresh pumpkin with a hint of soft autumn spice. An extraordinary scent for ladies and gentlemen alike!
Autumn Harvest
This cornucopia of autumn delights is sure to engage the senses. Juicy sweet oranges simmering with warm spices of nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and coriander complete this autumn treat.
Blackstrap Soap
Posted by Karen in Laboratory on September 4, 2009
Submit to the sensuous and inviting aroma of this enticing creation. A concoction of dark brown sugar with a touch of sweet blackstrap molasses and freshly picked, exotic Moroccan fig.
We used organic brown sugar because is contains a large amount of sweet blackstrap molasses. Sugars contain natural acids to gently remove dulling dirt and smoothes fine lines, and also gives soap an extra bubbly
lather. Due to its high vitamin A and C content, fig extract is beneficial in reducing superficial surface skin cells – leaving the skin refreshed and renewed.
Blackstrap is a permanent addition to my Natural Fusion collection. When I first created this blend, I wanted to throw it on the floor and roll around in it… yeah… it’s that good!
Aussie Blue Gum Spa Soap
Posted by Karen in Laboratory on September 3, 2009
Inspired by the time-honored spa treatments of Australia, this all natural soap will turn your shower into a relaxing and uplifting sauna. Created with a fresh, green blend of herbaceous blue gum eucalyptus and crisp lemon myrtle essential oils to refresh and renew.
Traditionally used by Australian aborigines for centuries, blue gum eucalyptus is fantastic for problem skin, as well as to combat the effects of colds and the flu. With extremely potent antibacterial and germicide properties, lemon myrtle is reputed to be a much more
effective germ killer than the more familiar tea tree.
This creation is naturally colored with a combination of therapeutic Australian washed blue and midnight black clays. Washed blue clay regulates sebum flow, cleanses hair follicles and dissolves impurities on the skin. Midnight black clay contains great iron and oxygen properties, making it particularly good for nourishing the skin.
A new addition to my All Natural Spa collection. This blend is green, lemony, and soft.
The three layers were colored by blending two Australian clays – washed blue and midnight black. So… why isn’t it three shades of blue? The lemon myrtle essential oil is actually a lovely shade of yellow, and yellow + blue = green.
Pineapple Brulee Soap
Posted by Karen in Laboratory on September 2, 2009
Fuel your senses with a refreshing burst of paradise! A perfect blend of fresh, sweet pineapple combined with sweet cream and caramelized sugar.
Pineapple extract contains the fruit enzyme bromelain, which is effective in exfoliating dead cells on the surface of the skin. Recognized as a natural emollient for centuries, goat’s milk conditions the skin while creating an extra bubbly lather.
This soap is truly scrumptious… and very hard to describe. The scent is a creamy caramelized pineapple, but in water it blooms into a delicious pineapple buttercream frosting.
I created this soap as a limited edition. However, after experiencing this delight in the shower, I am now considering adding it to my permanent collection.
A Perfect Pair… of Coconuts
Posted by Karen in Laboratory on September 2, 2009
I have been working to perfect a coconut soap for over a year. Coconut is a very difficult scent to work with in cold process soap.
Because of the saponification process (reactions of oil, water, and lye once combined), the fragrance usually morphs into a scent reminiscent of new shower curtains or simply disappears completely. Finally, I came up with two very unique blends…
Almond Coconut: Simply delicious! The sweetness of fresh coconut milk intermingles with warm, comforting almond in this delectable treat.
Delirium: Transport yourself to a pure state of ecstasy. An exotic blend of sweet, creamy coconut warmed with fresh, zesty ginger and a drop of rich peru balsam.
Mango Tea Soap
Posted by Karen in Laboratory on September 1, 2009
Arouse your senses with a revitalizing splash of tropical bliss!
A sophisticated blend of sweet island mango fruit and iced Ceylon tea softened with a touch of sultry vanilla bean and white musk.
Skin-rejuvenating mango fruit nectar restores and replenishes weathered, dull
skin.
Coconut milk conditions and softens skin while providing this soap with a lush, creamy lather.
I retired Mango Grove because I was so thrilled by this scent. It’s a very upscale mango scent… picture yourself lounging at a tropical resort sipping a tall glass of iced tea with freshly squeezed mango and a touch of vanilla bean.
